The unbeaten filly Zenyatta is going to be the overwhelming favorite to win the 2008 Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic. That got me to thinking back to the 1988 Distaff, when favorite Personal Ensign nipped Kentucky Derby winner Winning Colors at the wire to retire undefeated. That just started me thinking about all the other great Distaffs/Ladies' Classics, and I figured I'd just share them with you and let you soak in the nostalgia, as well. Here's the previously mentioned 1988 renewal:

A couple years before that race, a memorable moment for fans of Secretariat took place in the 1986 Distaff, as Lady's Secret would lock up a rare filly win for Horse of the Year with a wire-to-wire win:

Many racing fans remember full well the 1995 race, in which the great filly Inside Information won the Distaff by a record margin:

And who could possibly forget Azeri? Her smashing victory in the 2002 running of the Distaff secured her Horse of the Year Award:
