It's a shame though that Wells Fargo was entered in a slop tourney in his second one because he seems to thouroghly dominate on fast 4/4. Hey Aqa, did you see Quadrangle lose again today in the Dash Big Cash by almost three lengths to Doctor Grace, he still posted a 117, but he just is blown out of the water late in the stretch every time, thats five straight losses. In other news, Mi Del De Opreo upset the Milers Kentucky Derby over 11-time winner Rundownthedevil and is pointing toward the Milers Preakness. Another upset today was the loss by White Feather by two lengths to a horse she trounced in a race yesterday.

i would have to disagree with u on this one! the best runners are not there.....smiles although misty has done extremely well, i dont believe shes beaten the best. Fargo truly impressive so far, but yet still needs to be tested i feel. Theres one tourney coming up 1700 WHOS THE BEST tourney. Reward money in the millions theres no doubt the best horses will be there, to collect.... Excellent opportunity for both misty and fargo, to answer all the questions, critics who truly is the BEST!!

I Got A Name never got "trounced" by White Feather. All due props to my homeslice Motron but his horse only beat mine by a lenght and a half in the first prelim. I Got A Name returned the favor in the 2nd prelim by 1.5 lenghts.

Wells Fargo is the best horse going around at the moment regardless of any smack talk. I dont think the big entry tournaments attract the best horses due to the entry fees. Take qadrangle for example, huge earner but probably didnt race any horses like Wells Fargo (No offence Dash 4 Cash but if one of my average stable horses ie/ Dr Grace can beat the Quad, then hes definately not a champion.)

As far as im concerned, Wells Fargo has the title and if you want to "de-throne" the king then you need to take him on on his terms and conditions before talking up your own horses. Wells is definately the horse I want to see in the breeding barn so good luck in the final carrying a massive weight with Misty Images.

Shelby, your horse is also amazing by the way.

wells fargo is a good horse, we seem to jump on these horses and declare them ready for the breeding barn after a few races, give it some time and see how it goes...its going to be a long time before we see a real champion and it will not be under this current system...

You cant put down the big tourneys dude jus because u dont have the entry fee's or ur not gain enough to put up the cash... if fargo and misty cant make the big time cause its costly thats too bad they can never say they've mixed it with the big boyz, with millions of points on the line is a whole different league!

Its Jus like real racing only the BEST take out the big prize money, the rest go home with left overs....lol

Sorry, your a good trainer but not the best thats for sure. I dont think i want to waste 300,000 points on entering a horse to race your stable "stars".
Yes, your right i dont have enough points to enter, but it doesnt mean that my stable cannot compete with yours. (check your stats, theyre no better the micmac stable)
In my Opinion Wells Fargo is better than any horse in your stable whether the trainer can fork out 300k. Time will tell yes, but the SR's and sectionals are exceptional.

you guys are talking about high sp's on slop or mudd, I havent seen any horse run a 150+ sr on regular surface...mud surfaces always post hight figures..I have sevral that run a 150+ in the mud or slop, or off turf surfaces

Shelbyjoe, you are correct. One tournament does not make a Champion, at least to those of us who have common sense. All people talk about are times, and not what they've won. I'll make my decision on who's a champion when they have actually won something of importance. In my eyes, Misty is the best horse right now, not because of time, but because of competition he has beaten.

The competition is what determines the SR.
SRs by themselves are useless,it's all about 'Who' ya beat,not how fast ya run.

If you look at the last race Misty was the 8-5 favorite, I think Misty will carry the most weight not Wells. In fact they both will carry weight and another horse may sneak in there...

misty image hasnt met any of my monsters yet but im looking forward to the challenge...

Micmac is right the really BIG entry tourneys do not do a good job of getting the best horses. If you want to attract the best horses from everywhere you need an entry fee of around 100,000 that way smaller stables can enter without killing the rest of their barn.

For Leerocks tourney you need 400,000 looking at the points there are only about 50 barn even capable of coming up with that, throw in the date of the tourney and your looking at 30 barns.

Have a 100,000 pt tourney step up with 20 to 50 entries...That will get all the best

White Feather is now a 170 initial SR,i think HRF has lost control of the SR thing.

I would have loved to see yr face when you went to yr friends house and saw that 150SR,so much for our hard work,lol

I did not believe him thats for sure. Alot of emotions, jealousy, anger resentment, you know the drill. I am trying to keep him going in the game, he loves horse racing but he is in construction and times are tough... It is some horse.....He bred the horse (Dr Fager/Ruff on my advice) the night before our fantasy football draft, its an all rookie draft and he had the 2nd pick, he took RB Chris Wells, thus the name Wells Fargo.

Something else to think about when it comes to breeding. I went to Dr Fager's page, copied and pasted it all into MS Word, then did a find for "Ruffian".

It looks like Dr Fager x Ruffian has been tried something like 765 times. There are probably individual trainers who have tried Dr Fager x Ruffian 50 times by themselves.

This is the equivalent of standing in front of a particular slot machine, and pumping hundreds of dollars into it until you finally get that one huge payout. If you can afford it, and you have the patience, you *might* hit that big score. Then at the same time, someone may walk up to the machine next to yours, stick 1$ in it, and get the same payout.

I think the really good trainers are the ones who find the horses they have that have potential... because even one who shows a high initial SR might not be very good in tourneys... and then take those horses and finds the right spots to stick them in. To put them in positions where they have chances to succeed. I haven't figured that out yet, and I may never figure it out. But being a good trainer is not about spending $250 on massive amount of breeding attempts, and spending $200 more if you don't get the Superhorse out of the first batch.

Those of you that DO have a Superhorse in your barn... don't ever, ever forget just how much luck played into it.

These kinds of tournaments are always fun, Motron, where you have a bunch of two-year-olds that have run only one or two races :)

I am waiting now to see if Runnoft follow up his decent first race with a big bounce. I have had several that seem to do that.

Hmmm, maybe it's time to get some 'sponsors' for a few big tourneys. Maybe get a piece of the action by 'syndicating' a horse you've labeled a 'champion'? Maybe it's time to start awarding 'points' for winning and placing in sponsored tourneys...like NASCAR. Only way to be crowned champion is to get the most points. Have to establish the rules but y'all know that's where we're headed. Love the back and forth banter/trash talk! BTW, I'm on the Misty images bandwagon. ;)

I was thinking the same thing about weight while reading all the posts here. Then I came to aqa's post about a horse with lesser weight stealing the final from both Wells and Misty. I tend to agree it is a very good possability with the way the weights and the finals have been going. Unless Wells gets a weight break because of being a filly. Misty gave her 5 lbs. in both of the races Wells won, and without that weight break, Misty might have won the first one anyway. But that's horse racing, they are both very fantastic horses, and congrats go out to both owners on breeding two very good horses. A lot of luck goes into the breeding, but I believe you do have to find a hot pair also, then be lucky enough to be the one when the super baby come up.
Still, I may have to go with the third favorite, of course that will be after I see the stats on all the finalists.

As good as Wells Fargo is, the cyber ghost will probably keep him from winning the final. If he wins the final he will be on his way to stardom.

If he never runs anything under a 138 for the rest of his career, he should have no problem.

If he suddenly has an "off" day, and runs "only" a 130 or so and Misty or someone else beats him, I doubt anyone is going to seriously be surprised either.
